THE NAME
"Elati Street" is the street in Denver, Colorado, where Steve spent his childhood.
While doing research on the name, we learned that it is also the name of an extinct dialect (Elatĭ) of the Tsalagi or what is commonly known as "Cherokee" indian tribe. The dialect was spoken on the heads of Savannah River in South Carolina and Georgia.
In tribute to the Cherokee, Elati Street makes a regular donation to the Cherokee Nation's "Angels of the Cherokee" program which assists with meeting basic needs of children in tribal custody and foster homes.
We encourage others to help the Cherokee by sending in donations in any amount to the "Angels of the Cherokee", c/o The Cherokee Nation, PO Box 809, Tahlequah, OK 74465-0809 or contact The Cherokee Nation Treasurer, Callie Catcher, at Callie-Catcher@cherokee.org or (918)207-3902.
